Company

Oxus is a full-service medical waste management company serving greater New England.  Originally founded in 1996, since 2005 Oxus has been the designated operations, logistics and transportation operator for the Maine Hospital Association’s Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility centrally located in Pittsfield, Maine.

Our Maine operation processes nearly all treatable medical waste generated by the 39 member hospitals of the MHA.  Additionally, this facility is authorized to process medical waste generated throughout New England, and through Oxus is utilized by hundreds of non-member “Small Quantity Generators” as well.  Oxus offers a broad array of medical waste management services, including reusable medical waste containers, reusable sharps containers, regulatory compliance consulting, long-haul trucking, recycling programs and more.

History

Founded as SteriLogic Waste Systems in 1996, the predecessor of Oxus Environmental was a medical waste management company based in Syracuse, New York and served all of upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania. In 2005 Oxus Environmental was formed as a division of SteriLogic to serve as the medical waste management partner of the Maine Hospital Association and as a full-service medical waste management company serving the New England states. In 2006 SteriLogic restructured into the investment holding company Abele Kerr Investments to facilitate the merger of its New York operations with Medsolutions, Inc. which was subsequently acquired by Stericycle in 2007. Oxus remains the main holding of Abele Kerr Investments.
